Beagle Overview
Beagles were developed in England as pack hounds that could trail rabbits and hares by scent, working in teams and singing loudly as they ran. Their small size, hardy build and superb noses made them ideal for hunters on foot. Today the beagle ranks among the most popular breeds in the world, valued for its sunny nature and that iconic, melodic bay.
Beagles are famously friendly — with people, children and other dogs — and they make wonderful family pets.
